Vulnerability

"School is such an important part of helping them with a bereavement."

When pupils with additional needs are bereaved their access to information and support can be limited, so school can be an even more important place for them. For many of these young people, it is the main focus for social interactions with their peers.

Resources and services may not be able to meet their needs, leading to pupils having a greater reliance on school making the appropriate adaptations.

Pupils with additional needs may be more susceptible to experiencing negative impacts on their mental wellbeing, which could impact them when they are grieving.
